The Building of Ken's Backyard Wood Shed

After a year's preparation, my wood storage shed is finally beginning to take shape. On October 27, 2007, with the help of seven friends, we finally got my shed assembled. Here are a few photos of the team and the shed.

The components for a post and beam shed.

Above is the shed as it appeared at 9:30 am on October 27, 2007. The sills are in place, one bent (2 posts connected to a top plate with 2 braces) is assembled.

Note: you can see the untrimmed pegs that hold the stucture together in the photo above.

The shed was assembled in about an hour!

Thanks to the hard work of Bob and Andy, the rafters were cut by end of day Saturday, but it took me until Wednesday to get them all attached to the frame and trimmed. It is now ready for a roof.

Next comes the WALLs!

During the spring of 2008, I added racking, windows, and sheathing to the structure.

Here is how the shed appears in June 2008:

The windows were saved from remodeling projects on our house.

Here is the view from the north end of the shed showing the interior racking and wood storage.

Thanks for taking the time to see my shed.

Come back for again for updates.
